One death was reported in Minnesota. In addition, one illness in a pregnant woman resulted in a miscarriage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Since the last update, one ill person has been reported from Texas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A collaborative investigation by local and state public health and regulatory agencies, CDC, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicates that Les Fr\u00e8res, Petit Fr\u00e8re, and Petit Fr\u00e8re with Truffles cheeses made by Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese Company are the likely source of this outbreak.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">On July 3, 2013, Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese Company of Waterloo, Wisconsin <span class=\"cdc-decorated\"><a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fda.gov\/Safety\/Recalls\/ucm359621.htm\">voluntarily recalled<\/a><a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/Other\/disclaimer.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img class=\"externalImg\" title=\"External Web Site Icon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/TemplatePackage\/images\/icon_out.png\" alt=\"External Web Site Icon\" \/><\/a><\/span> its Les Fr\u00e8res, Petit Fr\u00e8re, and Petit Fr\u00e8re with Truffles cheeses with make dates of July 1, 2013 or earlier due to possible <em>Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> contamination.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The recalled cheeses were distributed nationwide through retail and foodservice outlets as well as by mail orders. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">During the inspection of the Crave Brothers facility in July 2013, the FDA collected a sample of Petit Fr\u00e8re with Truffles that was found to contain <em>Listeria monocytogenes <\/em>with the same DNA fingerprint as the outbreak strain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Consumers who purchased any of the recalled cheeses should not eat them and should throw away any remaining cheeses.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">This is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vitalSigns\/listeria\/infographic.html#risk\">especially important<\/a> for pregnant women, older adults, and persons with weakened immune systems, who are at the highest risk for infection and serious outcomes. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/listeria\/outbreaks\/cheese-07-13\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/listeria\/<wbr \/>outbreaks\/cheese-07-13\/index.<wbr \/>html<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Posted August 28, 2013<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Multistate Outbreak of Listeriosis Linked to Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheeses Read the Advice to Consumers &amp; Cheese Retailers\u00bb A total of six persons infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes have been reported from five states.
